THOUGHT FOR THE LIVING

HEAVEN                                                                                                 HELL

Heaven they say is the right path to walk after death, agreed. And Hell the wrong path to walk after death, also agreed. But I say heaven is not only seeing paradise after death, it is also the normal state of health of a person. When we are healthy, we have the strength to do all things, we have fun, and we basically do everything that is possible for us to do. Once we have the strength, most a times we also forget to pray or give thanks for our daily activities. We live and walk around the street like we own ourselves, we say things without being sorry for what we say, and we even forget to take responsibility for our actions. We also forget to think “what if hell shows up?”

Hell is not only the wrong path after death, to some people; it is an abnormal state of one’s health. Hell comes to us either when we become sick; the amazing thing about hell is that it is the period when every person begins to think about his/her life considering the fact that something terrible must have been done by that particular person. Our minds bring thought of things like; “have I offended someone? Did I say something bad to God? Or did I hurt someone’s feeling?” At this point in time, we tend to remember God, we call our pastors to pray for us, we remember to give our tithe and offerings and even make pledges, we plead with our creator to take away our sufferings and in return we would promise to worship Him forever. The ideal question to ask ourselves after all of this is how many of us usually keep to such promises?

Hell takes us down to our knees; it turns us into slaves at our master’s feet, but we forget that we can fight hell on earth since all powers have been given to us by the power and authority vested in the name of Jesus. We can fight hell only if we follow the right steps. For example, if you feel sick, you don’t just go about getting self medications because self medication is wrong, and it is just like putting faith in something without working. You have to know what caused the sickness by going to the hospital to see a doctor. But as a Christian, you also have to communicate with God even before going to the hospital. Faith without work is like a person believing that he/she will get some money but he/she sits at home all day long doing nothing to generate the money. You cannot take self medication when you do not know what is wrong with you, the right way to escape hell and walk your path to heaven is by constant checking of yourself, your spiritual life and activities, and you have to know what is wrong with you before knowing the right steps to take.

In conclusion, if you don’t come to reality with the problems surrounding you, you will never know the right steps to solving your problems. Choose heaven and put hell aside and say no to every evil and hell will surely depart from you.
