SUNDAY SPECIAL

THANKSGIVING Many of us don’t know how to be thankful or what to be thankful for. Many times we pray to God to show us what to be thankful for but when you stop to think, you will discover that there are a lot of things we have to be thankful for. When you wake up, you find what to be thankful about, the first is, you can move, you can take your bath and you are ready to go to work. The second thing to be thankful about is that you have a good job that keeps you going. When you eat you should be thankful that you can afford food. You should be thankful that God has provided for your feeding. You should always be thankful for the good friends you have, for the comfortable house you own, for the water you use to bath, eat and use for other domestic purposes. Even after all the things possess, you still do not know how to be thankful to God, you still ask God to show you what to be thankful for? Even the air you breathe in is of the lord and you have to be thankful for it, for the

WHAT LIFE OFFERS AS A STUDENT

Image
WHAT LIFE OFFERS AS A STUDENT Education is an important aspect in shaping up and building the mindset of humans. Through every stage in life, I have come to realize that the university system is a different dimension in total. In 2014, I was a calo, much of a dream gone in an overgrown parcel of land downted by patched structures. Days have passed as times are changing and my ambiance is looking quite like a decorated penitentiary. In the year 2014, I started my university life in Bingham University, located in New Karu, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Adjusting to a totally new life was a difficult task as every mode of operation is different compared to the primary or secondary school system. As at the time of gaining admission into the university, I always heard stories of how good the school was in terms of infrastructure and mode of operation. Life as a student in general has never been easy, due to the fact that you could always sense and feel things trying to pull you down or ra

THOUGHT FOR THE LIVING

HEAVEN                                                                                                 HELL Heaven they say is the right path to walk after death, agreed. And Hell the wrong path to walk after death, also agreed. But I say heaven is not only seeing paradise after death, it is also the normal state of health of a person. When we are healthy, we have the strength to do all things, we have fun, and we basically do everything that is possible for us to do. Once we have the strength, most a times we also forget to pray or give thanks for our daily activities. We live and walk around the street like we own ourselves, we say things without being sorry for what we say, and we even forget to take responsibility for our actions. We also forget to think “what if hell shows up?” Hell is not only the wrong path after death, to some people; it is an abnormal state of one’s health. Hell comes to us either when we become sick; the amazing thing about hell i

DARK SHADOWS

POEM TITLE: DARK SHADOWS  BY: SHEKWOWOYILO ENOCH                                                                                                                     As I walk to class every night To Jack and Jack my life out I'm faced with undefined traffic Of lots and lots of people Some sitting, some standing Some in open, some hiding Some chatting with one phone Some making unending calls As I walk to class every night I see dark shadows Many shadows in twos, in threes And even sometimes more Shadows of united beings Shadows of companions Shadows communing with each other Shadows of opposite sexes As I turn left and right I see so many cars Cars with one chance drivers Cars with four-one-nine passengers Some tricking each other Some slaying each other Some breaking hearts Some puncturing souls Some postponing the present Some thwarting dreams Every night is a night Every night is a busy night With the girls' hostel gate being the gar

PRETENTIOUS FAKE LIFE

Image
PRETENTIOUS FAKE LIFE Pretentious fake life obviously marked by an unwarranted claim to importance or distinction is the type of life so many people desire to live. Every day of my life, I usually think and ask myself, why do people have to pretend to be what they know they aren’t? The reason for this could not be far from the truth which could possibly be related to the “desire for self attention”. Psychology and mind emotions do play a part in the desire for self attention. According to knowledgeable understanding, man can do everything possible by all means to seek attention just to please people. In this world, one thing is always certain, if it is destined for you to make it big in life and be popular, you surely will. People only tend to make their life look perfect just because they want to impress and feel among especially on social media. Life goes beyond just being popular. Popular people with fame also passed through difficulty, so why shouldn’t you? Life in itself c
RESTRUCTURING NPFL CLUBS Part 2 Establishment of a football academy An academy for studies and football should be established by Akwa Ibom Football Club with the aim of grooming youth players for the club, which could be for business (in terms of transfer) or further promotion into the club’s first team. The name of the academy could be called “Akwa Ibom Football Club Academy”, or for language preferences it could also be named “Ufuknwad Football”, meaning school of football. The club finances could be strengthen by the sale of players (mainly youths) who do not break into the first team. Buy back and sell on clauses should be inserted into their contracts before they are sold in case of future occurrences. Also as an academy for studies, young less privilege children with merit in football could be half sponsored by the club along with their academic life. Should the player be a non residence of the state, he should be housed in the academy housing unit. Transfer Policy

RESTRUCTURING NPFL CLUBS

RESTRUCTURING NPFL CLUBS (Case study; Akwa United FC of Nigeria) PART 1 Club-Society/community ownership The restructuring of Akwa United is certainly necessary in order to re-establish the club into a modern society or community club as seen in most countries where football clubs are been established not just for the purpose of  football but also to be a medium which people could use to meet and interact with people. Most football clubs of today have realised the necessity to involve people in the dealings of the club’s activity, and also with the aim of providing an avenue for people to meet, interact and also as a symbol of unity. For example, FC Barcelona in Spain has adopted this method of running the club for a long time now. In the aspect of restructuring the club, the football club’s name should be changed from Akwa United to Akwa Ibom Football Club (AIFC). My reason for this is that many clubs in Nigeria use the word “United” in accordance with its name, and this
